Emerson Network Power Enhances Platform of IP-Based KVM Systems with Introduction of High-Performance Extenders

Extending keyboard, video and mouse cables for data center applications has always been challenging because of several different types of technology used in transmitting the signals. This is especially true with analog video, the higher the resolution, the shorter the distance possible. With newer USB and Display Port technologies being used by modern PCs and servers, extending all the functionality can be quite interesting and often very challenging.  Emerson Networks Avocent division who offers a host of digital KVM and control solutions has recently introduced a new product called the LV5000 high performance extender to make it a bit easier to accomplish extending KVM signals and much more if needed. This extender provides a full-function connection that enables up to six USB 2.0 human interface devices, including mice, keyboards, graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks and 3D explorers. Mass storage and isochronous devices, such as webcams and headsets, can be used through the transparent USB 2.0 high-speed port. It also supports high-definition audio for recording and playback. The extender is delivered in a zero configuration state so it can be plugged in and used without any drivers or software being installed. Pretty cool. Click here for more information
