POE Levels?

I have been talking about POE (Power Over Ethernet) for some time now in my articles posted on our website. One reason is because it gets updated so much in the past few years. What started out as a cool way to power hard to get to devices like wireless access points and IP phones using one standard has morphed into powering a multitude of devices and supplying numerous power levels with a number of conductor variations as well. To say the least it has become a bit confusing. Recently, I have read a blog from Ron Tellas at Belden on this subject. Ron breaks down POE into four basic groups called types.  Categorizing POE in this manner is a great idea, It kind of mimic's what evolved with four pair copper cabling in order to easily figure out those standards.
